First Game & Jam Takeaways


This was my first Gamejam and my first attempt at making a Game, so I wanted to bullet point what went well and what didn't. 

What went well:

  • Godot was pretty easy to navigate.
  • GDScript really is pretty quick to pick up on.
  • I made my first ever GDD, roughly.
  • Learned how to animate and bring a sprite sheet to life.
  • Troubleshooting export errors.
  • Troubleshooting GDScript errors in debug.

What did not go well:

  • Coming up with a game idea took forever.
  • Attempting to code in C# first instead of starting off with GDScript. There are tons of more resources on GDScript. Spent way too long searching for C# resources.. facepalm.
  • Spending a little too much time looking for the perfect asset pack.
  • Finding time and finding focus then combining these two.
